Cameron Sunday School Program

Adult and Children's Classes
9:15 - 10:15 a.m.
Each Sunday
(nursery available)

We are all on a life-long faith journey. Each Cameron member and friend is urged to plug into one or more study opportunities offered through our church as a means of preparing for and advancing our journey. A studying Christian is a growing Christian.

We offer weekly study opportunities, of course, through our Sunday School for all ages, from the infant nursery to adult classes of various types. Adult classes offer opportunities to study church history, current events, individual books of the Bible, applications of Bible stories and events to contemporary life, and - from time to time - specialized topics for short-term groups.

Cameron's Adult Sunday School Classes

Friendship Class

This class meets in the Bride's Room across the hall from Skelton Hall on the upper level of the education building. Marilyn Garber states, "I do not feel as though I teach the Friendship Class. We are all teachers in the class. We learn so much from each other." The class usually studies the "Adult Bible Studies" material, but deviate now and then to discuss a thought provoking book that everyone reads. Marilyn feels that the class has become very important to each of its members. The class offers a great learning opportunity, but members also share their joys, concerns, and their love. They are a family! And, as in any family, they do not always agree and have differences of opinion. But it is beautiful to see how the differences are accepted and they love to come together each Sunday in God's presence. They are also a family that is still growing and very willing and excited to have new family members join them.Marilyn Garber hails from Kansas and has been a member of Cameron for 34 years. Over these years she has served on every committee and board of Cameron except the Trustees. Marilyn is also active in Cameron's United Methodist Women and has held leadership offices both at Cameron and on the District level. She has quite a few stories to add to the Friendship Class discussions from her students as she is a Fairfax County high school math teacher. She and her husband, Allan, have a young adult son.

Christian Focus Class

You are invited to join the Christian Focus Class which meets in Room 2 on the lower level of the education building. The class is a casual, intergenerational class (pre-teens to senior adults). We use a large variety of sources as class materials and explore the application of scripture to everyday life in the 21st century. In February 2017, we began with Genesis and plan to touch on all the "Big Stories" of the Old Testament Bible. There is always coffee, tea and chocolate to stimulate the discussion. So come, participate, and make new friends to join you in your faith journey.

Children and Youth Sunday School
(During Sunday Service)

Based on three big truths: God is a great big God. God loves us with a great big love. We are part of God's great big world. The focus of lessons generally follows the Lectionary and also touches on Bible heroes who teach us that God chooses ordinary people to make a difference in God's world. Some of these heroes are Moses, Samuel, David, and Matthew.
